Shakira

Shakira is the artist Name for Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, a latin pop singer and musician. She was born on February 9, 1977, in Barranquilla, Colombia. She moved to Bogota at the age of thirteen, and one year later, her first album, Magia (Magic), was released under a Sony contract, but was not very successful, as wasn't its successor album, Peligro (Danger). Shakira turned to acting and played a role in a Colombian soap opera, but returned to music business in 1995 with the album Pies Descalzos, which was quite successful, with the hit Estoy Aquí becoming a number one hit in Colombia, and she became known outside the country.
